Welcome Back

As the school year begins, all of us at FRC are getting ready for our organization’s second year working to eliminate rape culture at Ohio University and in the Athens community.

Major events from our first year include:

– A Homecoming march through the uptown streets demanding University policy changes

– A rally on the courthouse steps allowing people to share stories of harassment and assault

– A Body Positivity week celebrating bodies of all shapes and sizes

Since then:

– The university has publicly recognized amnesty for victims and witnesses of sexual assault for drinking and drug use.

– A mandatory online course has been created for freshmen to educate students on sexual assault and consent.

– Sexual harassment training is being formulated for student workers.

Our ongoing efforts include:

– Reaching out to other campus organizations (service fraternities and student senate) to educate our peers on healthy sex and consent

– Continuing to organize and engage in public protest by working with similar initiatives (EmbodyConsent and Hollaback!) to abolish sexual violence and rape culture
